Made using only a carving knife and Japanese hand plane ('Kanna'), each piece is unique and beautifully varied, covered in small facets extending into a smooth octagonal profile. Slightly longer and finer than typical chopsticks, the thicker, rounded top still feels comfortable in the hand while the ends remain precise throughout use.

Mokko Seishin
Robert Rurup

Meaning 'spirit of woodworking' (木工 精神) in Japanese, Mokko Seishin is the namesake of Robert Seishin Rurup, a Japanese-American woodworker based in Brooklyn, NY. Carrying the spiritual and pragmatic elements of Japanese and Scandinavian design, each piece is made with a reverence for nature, timeless design, and beautiful functionality. Handcrafted utilizing domestically and ethically sourced materials, Mokko Seishin's works are made to maintain the lowest possible environmental impact throughout the lifecycle of their making. We are honored to represent a small selection of Mokko Seishin's in-house products and work alongside Robert to create unique pieces for everyday life.
