Roughly translating to "squeeze-pour" in Japanese, the design of shiboridashi teapots allows you to extract every last drop of liquid from your brew. Similar in construction to a Chinese gaiwan, shiboridashi is the simplest form of Japanese teapot, consisting of only a spouted bowl and lid. We love this one's elegant proportions and special charcoal-fired finish. It's the perfect little vessel to wrap in a furoshiki (wrapping cloth) and accompany you during travel.

Note: We recommend this style and shape for preparing green or white teas.

Hamish Jackson

Vases, crocks, chargers, and teapots—these pragmatic and familiar forms are transformed and renewed through the hands of British potter Hamish Jackson. In 2012, Hamish began potting at Winchcombe Pottery in the Cotswolds, where he learned to harvest local materials and then turn them into practical, domestic forms. Since then, he's traveled and exhibited widely, from Europe to Japan and the United States, where he resides. Now a full-time maker and educator, Hamish aims to cultivate a connection between his wares and the landscapes where they originate.
