Details

Defined as 'cute' in Swedish, our söt carafe set is functionality at its finest. With no standard spout integrated into the design, the carafe is comfortable to hold and pour from any angle and beautifully doubles as a vase. We especially love the unique way this carafe holds its matching cup.

Artist Notes

Esque Studio

Having first met as artists for hire at UrbanGlass in New York City, Andi Kovel and Justin Parker were immediately drawn to each other's shared outlook on design and their passion for pushing the boundaries of glass.

Within their unexpected proportions and vibrant color schemes, you can tell that Kovel and Parker see beauty as both performative and as sustenance. When looking at their work, you immediately recognize the material's fluid and inherently uncontrollable nature. In a way, each piece they create seems to be a form of material exploration versus a perfectly controlled replica.

Now located in Portland, Oregon's industrial Saint Johns neighborhood, Esque Studio is both a homage to the history of glass and a promise to pave a new path for it as an expressive medium.

Note: Justin Parker has set out independently with Justin Parker Design, and Andi Kovel now exclusively designs and fabricates all work representing Esque.

Product Care

Hand-blown/furnace-made glass is not resistant to rapid temperature changes. To avoid a break, keep the piece away from dishwashers, open flames, boiling liquids, and drastic temperature changes.

As a general rule, do not stack or store your glass pieces with the weight on the lip.

Always be careful when using chipped or cracked glass. Not handling with care may result in injury.

If the piece is lightly dirty, rinse it under lukewarm water using a soft sponge. If there are oily areas, instead of using only lukewarm water, use a mild dish detergent and a soft sponge to gently clean the piece.

After drying thoroughly, store the piece on a shelf or in a cabinet with good airflow.

To care for sandblasted/frosted glass, clean by gently wiping in circles with a soft microfiber cloth and a mild dish soap solution or a non-ammonia glass cleaner. Always rinse thoroughly with warm water to prevent soap residue from dulling the satin finish.

The porous texture of sandblasted/frosted glass can easily absorb oils. To dissolve stubborn smudges or fingerprints, gently wipe with rubbing alcohol or a mild oil-cutting product on a microfiber cloth.

If the sandblasted/frosted glass looks ashy or dry, apply a tiny amount of mineral oil across the surface and buff thoroughly with a clean, lint-free cloth.
