Details

Whether tucked away in a drawer, left on the counter, or dining table to admire, this handmade holder is the perfect way to protect and preserve your chopsticks.  Storing your wooden chopsticks in their own box not only protects their surface from getting scraped by other metal utensils but also ensures the tips don't dull or chip, which can happen easily when stored upright. All in all, we love how this everyday essential is both beautiful and purposeful.

Artist Notes

Mokko Seishin

Meaning 'spirit of woodworking' (木工 精神) in Japanese, Mokko Seishin is the namesake of Robert Seishin Rurup, a Japanese-American woodworker based in Brooklyn, NY.

Carrying the spiritual and pragmatic elements of Japanese and Scandinavian design, each piece is made with a reverence for nature, timeless design, and beautiful functionality. Handcrafted using domestically and ethically sourced materials, Mokko Seishin's works are made to maintain the lowest possible environmental impact throughout the lifecycle of their making.

We are honored to represent a small selection of Mokko Seishin's in-house products and work alongside Robert to create unique pieces for everyday life.

Product Care

Avoid using metallic scrubbing pads, harsh chemicals, or acid cleaners when washing woodenware. Lukewarm water and a mild detergent will do.

Avoid soaking the piece in water for extended periods, as this can cause raised wood grain, which is rough and unpleasant to the touch.

If the piece comes into contact with moisture before cleaning, wipe it away with a soft cloth before it can be fully absorbed.

Washing the piece after each use is best to avoid staining and discoloration. Lukewarm water and a mild detergent will do.

Wipe the piece thoroughly with a soft cloth after washing, and dry on a dish rack overnight before storing. Water left on woodenware may cause the wood grain to rise.

If the surface of your piece feels rough or dry after washing, treat it with a food-safe oil or wax product, such as walnut or mineral oil. Reapply regularly with a piece of cloth as needed.
