Details

These handmade glass and washi-paper lamps diffuse soft, warm light, creating a sense of harmony in any space. We love the hazy glow that layers of washi paper naturally emit, complemented by the satin-smooth black glass base. The off-white surface of the shade, intentionally patchworked in strips by the artist, enhances the soft illumination effect and leaves a leather-like impression on the senses. Inspired by smooth river rocks, the base is blown, cut, and textured by hand to achieve its 'non-glassy' surface. 

Note: The lamp uses a 3-way socket and requires a 3-way light bulb.

Matthew Abadi

Having discovered and fallen in love with glass during one chance encounter, Matthew Abadi quickly traded his life working a 9-5 for the life of a glassblower.

Now known for his precise and delicate work, Abadi's glassware still retains the unique and organic characteristics that can only be obtained through a hand-blown glass process. Rarely making multiples of a piece unless commissioned by a shop or gallery, he employs various glass-making techniques to achieve pieces that are genuinely one-of-a-kind.

Whether intended to perform a specific task or be appreciated from afar, each object is made with a meaningful purpose. The resulting glassware offers a beautiful simplicity within the space it occupies and the space it contains.

Located in Portland, Oregon, Abadi is constantly pursuing new mediums to continue enriching his deep connection to craft.

Product Care

Intended for indoor/dry spaces only.

The blown-glass base is hand-cut and textured to achieve a gently brushed finish. To protect the surface texture, avoid dragging the lamp across surfaces.

Use a soft brush to gently remove dust from the shade as needed. This helps maintain light diffusion and prevents heavy buildup.

The lamp uses a 3-way socket and requires a 3-way light bulb. Standard on/off bulbs will not function properly.

The shade is made from Japanese paper saturated in a protective wax. Though quite durable, extended exposure to intense heat can cause discoloration of the waxed paper. To protect the paper shade from heat over time, we recommend an LED bulb (150W max).

Return Policy

Returns for store credit are accepted within 7 days of receipt or delivery. All valid returns must be in unused condition with attached tags and original packaging.

For online orders, Storied Objects will not accept any returned merchandise without prior written communication and a valid return authorization number. Upon inspection of the returned item, store credit will be provided minus a 10% restocking fee; no refunds.
