Details
This large, spherical vase—reminiscent of the moon—stands out not only for its unique, soft form, but also for its intricate surface. Originating in 13th-century Korea during the Joseon Dynasty, moon jars were historically made of porcelain and glazed in white or celadon glazes to mimic the moon's subtle coloring. Jotham Hung subverts these traditional elements by creating them from stoneware and applying surfaces that challenge established notions. This vase leaves much for the viewer to interpret, with its tactile surface and mysterious presence inviting endless contemplation.
