Esque Studio
Andi Kovel & Justin Parker
Having first met as artists for hire at UrbanGlass in New York City, Andi Kovel, and Justin Parker were immediately drawn to each other's shared outlook on design and pushing the boundaries of glass. Within their unexpected proportions and vibrant colors schemes, you can tell that Kovel and Parker see beauty as both performative and as sustenance. When looking at their work, you immediately recognize the material's fluid and inherently uncontrollable nature. In a way, each piece they create seems to be a form of material exploration versus a perfectly controlled replica. Now located in Portland, Oregon's industrial Saint Johns neighborhood, Esque Studio is both a homage to the history of glass and a promise to pave a new path for it as an expressive medium.
