Details

Designed as the commemorative sakazuki for Fuyu Fest, the only sake festival in the Pacific Northwest, in 2026, this sakazuki showcases the kind of beauty that can only be made by hand. Shaped with small irregularities that make every piece feel alive, these glass sake vessels are designed to enhance the experience of drinking sake. Similar to wine and whiskey glasses, sake cups come in different shapes that alter the taste, fragrance and act of sipping sake. With their wide rim and clear color, these particular sakazuki are perfect for highlighting sake's color and aroma.

Artist Notes

Maria Enomoto

When it comes to glass design, Maria Enomoto's work is imbued with a sense of joy and whimsy that can't be faked.

Rather than trying to control glass as a material, Maria seemingly embraces the happy little accidents that occur along the way. It was the same unpredictability that initially drew her to the world of glassblowing in 2011, which led to her BFA at the Rhode Island School of Design.

Although Maria's love for color and form has remained consistent over the last decade, her creative possibilities are as endless as the materials she has mastered.
