Printed by one of the last remaining English-language typesetters in Japan, Poems by Baisao examines the philosophical observations of the 18th-century nomadic monk and purported father of Sencha tea ceremony. Meaning 'old tea seller' (売茶翁), Baisao earned his name while traveling throughout Kyoto prefecture selling his uniquely prepared teas. Rejecting the formality of Chanoyu, which utilized powdered 'Matcha' tea and intricate standards for preparation, Baisao preferred Sencha for its simplicity and appeal to Buddhist teachings. Whether for the tea enthusiast, poet, or Zen practitioner, Poems by Baisao provides a beautiful look into tea as a means of pursuing spiritual enlightenment.

Nahoko Press

Established in 2014 by Nakoko Yamaguchi, Nahoko Press is a small, independent publisher in Tokyo, Japan, dedicated to preserving the traditional craftsmanship of letterpress printing.

Inspired by the Zen term 'Shin-in' (meaning 'heart' or 'mind' in Japanese Zen Buddhism), Nahoko-san interprets letterpress printing as a means to leave a stamp on one's heart. Free from language and ideas, communicating with the heart is universally understood, and this is how Nahoko Press wishes to share the lasting impression of encountering something meaningful and beautiful, whether that be a letter-pressed book or the encounters and experiences we share with those around us.

Alongside publishing select works, Nahoko served as the Director at Taka Ishii Gallery (2000–2013) and hosts intentional coffee sessions through Kissa Shizukesaya.

Product Care

The ideal environment for paper-based items is a stable climate with minimal fluctuations in temperature and humidity.

As a general rule, we recommend storing your books and paper products where you reside in your home—think living room or bedroom, not the attic or basement.

To avoid fading and discoloration, keep your books and stationery out of direct sunlight and dust regularly with a soft microfiber cloth or duster.

Always handle paper products with clean, dry hands to avoid staining from lotions and oils.

While upright storage is generally best for books and zines, oversized, heavy, or delicate items should lie flat.

Use bookends to prevent books from leaning when stored vertically.

Return Policy

Returns for store credit are accepted within 7 days of receipt or delivery. All valid returns must be in unused condition with attached tags and original packaging.

For online orders, Storied Objects will not accept any returned merchandise without prior written communication and a valid return authorization number. Upon inspection of the returned item, store credit will be provided minus a 10% restocking fee; no refunds.
