With its torn edges, this small dish looks like it is made of paper mache, but it is actually made of ceramic. Each dish is hand-formed, giving the edges a delicate appearance that is fit to hold a sweet treat or your favorite trinket.

Marité Acosta

From a career in fashion, textiles, food, and ceramics, Cuban-American artist Marité Acosta (pronounced MAR-a-TAE) has transitioned between artistic mediums with an enviable seamlessness. The subjective nature of art, aesthetics, and function is central to Marité’s work. Each piece she creates is made with intention and leaves behind traces of human touch. With a strong balance of function and form, her work never aims to seek out perfection but to celebrate the unexpected outcomes of the material. After living in NYC for more than 30 years, Marité now lives in Bend, Oregon, where she embraces her creative practice in clay full-time. You can find Marité's work featured in publications such as the Wall Street Journal, Bon Appetit, Remodelista, and numerous other magazines, lifestyle books, and cookbooks.
