Scent and Memories

Amid the sometimes overbearing sensory experience of the city, transporting your mind to a space of ease is a daily necessity, so finding handmade olfactory products to offer in the shop has been top of mind for us since we opened Oak Street.

As a candle softly diffuses in the air, one becomes aware of the passing of time. When incense is lit, thin ribbons of smoke sway through the room, making an invisible imprint on the space and one's memory of it. Even setting out a small bowl of potpourri—moving it between vessels and rooms—becomes a grounding act in our days. 

Like styling your wardrobe or decorating a space, scent becomes a kind of self-portrait. Naturally, one's own ritual comes to reflect one's lifestyle, and over time, these scents can become a sign of home in one's memory.
